Covid-19: Angola registers 633 new cases and three deaths in the last 24 hours

The number of new infections soared in the last 24 hours, with the country registering 633 new cases. According to the Minister of Health, Sílvia Lutucuta, three deaths and 15 recoveries were also reported.

The largest number of cases was found in Luanda (604), followed by Cabinda (13), Huíla (8), Huambo (5), Bié (2) and Benguela (1).

New infections were confirmed at ages between one and 78 years, with 367 males and 266 females.

In the same period, there were also three deaths, two in the capital and one in Huambo, and 15 people recovered from the disease.

The laboratories processed, in the last 24 hours, 2868 samples.

With the most recent data, the country has a total of 67,199 cases, of which 1564 are active, 1741 deaths and 63,894 recovered.

Quoted in a note posted on the ministry's Facebook, the minister expressed concern about the "growing number of positive cases and said that they will soon know what kind of strain the country has in circulation."

According to the statement, since March 2 this year, the country has already administered 11,100,581 doses of vaccines against diseases, of which 7,552,180 people with one dose and 3,843,967 with two, representing coverage in the order of 24.38 percent.
