João Lourenço witnesses the signing of four memoranda of understanding between Angola and the UAE

The President of the Republic arrived this Monday in Abu Dhabi for a three-day visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and almost immediately witnessed the signing of four memoranda of understanding that aim to boost cooperation between the two countries.

Alongside Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, representative of the UAE President in the Al Dhafra region, João Lourenço witnessed the signing of legal instruments that were being negotiated in recent days by a ministerial team that traveled earlier to Abu Dhabi.

One of these memorandums will allow the expansion of the digital transformation program in Angola, another will strengthen cooperation in the Transport sector, another will facilitate the implementation of a solar energy and energy storage program and the last one – the fourth – opens space for cooperation and exploring opportunities in the most varied sectors of the Angolan economy.

All documents were signed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, while on the Emirates side signed Sheikh Shakhbout bin Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of State.

According to a note made public by the Presidency of the Republic of Angola, this Tuesday, President João Lourenço will have an "extensive day of audiences", during which he will receive important businessmen and leaders of companies and economic groups.

On Wednesday, the third and last day of the visit, the head of State will be present at Expo Dubai 2020, on a day dedicated to Angola. In addition to visiting the country's stand, the PR will deliver a speech at the venue and attend a show with the participation of Angolans Yola Semedo, Nanutu and Daniel Nascimento.
