The official, cited by Angop, added that although Semba has spread throughout the world, it is of Angolan origin and, therefore, there is no risk of another country registering this style as its heritage.
Speaking at the end of the 7th ordinary meeting of the National Multisectorial Commission for the Safeguarding of the World Cultural Heritage, the secretary clarified that, in order to give recognition to a property, it is necessary to prepare a document on which it is based.
She also mentioned that a technical commission has already been created, made up of artists, academics, technicians from the cultural heritage institute, among others.
Maria Piedade de Jesus also took the opportunity to mention that, regarding UNESCO's recommendations on Mbanza Kongo, the foundation stone to build the new airport has already been laid, more than 30 kilometers from the city.
Among other points, the official said that the ethnographic museum of traditional communities in the south of the country will be built in a historic area, which will include the cinema area. She also considered that it is necessary to create infrastructures dedicated to tourism in Mbanza Kongo and Moçâmedes.
