In a statement sent to VerAngola, BAI says that this initiative, which is part of its social responsibility program, aims to promote digital inclusion, as well as "facilitate access to new technologies".
According to Luís Lélis, PCE at the bank, this initiative is intended to help create "concrete opportunities for millions of Angolans to access information, education and new markets".
"The activation of these free Wi-Fi points is a milestone in our social responsibility and innovation strategy. With this initiative, we want to contribute to the creation of concrete opportunities for millions of Angolans to access information, education and new markets", he pointed out.
"We believe that digital inclusion is essential to unlock the potential of our communities and contribute to the economic and social transformation of the country", added Luís Lélis, quoted in the statement.
According to BAI, the first phase of this project will be implemented by December next year, "a period during which the performance of access points, the receptivity of communities and the support of municipal administrations for the BAI Directo free wi-fi program will be evaluated".
The bank also says that this initiative reflects its strategic vision of "supporting the development of Angolan communities, especially young people", and by providing free internet, it is promoting "access to education, entrepreneurship and information, essential pillars for reducing of social inequalities and sustainable progress".
