According to a statement from the Angolan Mixed Martial Arts Federation (FAMMA), which VerAngola had access to, the athletes qualified for the finals using the points system.
"The Angolan athletes have already qualified for Sunday's finals based on points: Maria Kitoko (74 kg); Clarence Francisco (79 kg, juniors)", reads the federation's statement.
In addition, the national team has other athletes fighting for a place in the final. The national athletes entered the scene this Friday to compete in the semi-finals of the competition.
The fights scheduled for this Friday included Nkunga Vakanda, who was going to face Barakatullo Asadulloev (Tajikistan), in the 56 kg category, as well as Milfa Kuenda Nicolau, who competed with Ali Musakulov (Kazakhstan), in the 88 kg category.
According to the Federation, the following athletes were also scheduled to take part in the event: Maria Liberal against Kiara Fegen (South Africa), in the 70.3 kg category; Linara Costa against Ana Fernanda, both Angolans, in the 79.4 kg category; Jeorgina Ludmila against Mulder Ashirbekova (Kazakhstan); and Esperança Pereira against Oceane Samson (France), in the 56.7 kg category.
It is worth remembering that this is the third time that the country has participated in the world championship, after having participated in the 2022 and 2023 editions. In this year's edition, the national team will participate with 27 athletes.
