Regarding the Ministry of the Interior, the Head of State said that this secretariat is expected to "take a new direction".
"It is expected that this ministerial department will take a new direction", he said, in statements at the inauguration ceremony, cited by Angop.
On the occasion, he left guidelines to be "more concentrated, with the general orientation of combating, not only corruption, but bad practices in the State apparatus, which end up harming the country", adding that "bad practices also harm Angolan citizens in a very direct way".
The new commander-general of the National Police, delegate-general Francisco Monteiro Ribas da Silva, recognized that leading the corporation is not a simple task, but promised to strive to meet expectations.
The new commander, speaking to the press after the inauguration, said that the National Police will continue to implement strategies to bring services closer to the population, aiming to gain their trust.
"We will draw up an action plan based on the order that was issued, so that it can be implemented within the established schedule, so that we have a positive balance", he said, quoted by Angop.
In addition to Ribas da Silva, the President of the Republic also swore in the Secretary of State for the Interior, Arnaldo Manuel Carlos, and the Secretary of State for Technical Assurance, Cristino Mário Ndeitunga.
On the occasion, Arnaldo Manuel Carlos said that his work will focus on promoting and developing public security policies, emphasizing the reduction of crime in the country.
"The focus is on the continuous fight against crime", he pointed out, adding: "We will continue to work in all directions, especially in those situations that currently concern Angolan citizens, with emphasis on the destruction of public assets, especially crimes that occur on the outskirts of cities".
While Cristino Mário Ndeitunga pointed out that the mission involves working to have a strong Ministry of the Interior, aiming to fulfill its statutory task, and added that attention will also be focused on combating crime, strengthening institutions and bodies of the guardianship, so that they meet effectively the needs of the population.
According to Angop, before taking office, in a restricted act, the head of State, in the guise of Commander-in-Chief of the Angolan Armed Forces, elevated Francisco Ribas da Silva from commissioner to general commissioner.
It should be remembered that the newly appointed people were recently appointed by the President of the Republic, who made several moves in this sector, the biggest being the dismissal of Eugénio Laborinho from the position of Minister of the Interior and the appointment of Manuel Homem to his place.
