OGE 2025 “traces a clear path to a future of more opportunities, development and inclusion and represents the recognition that, for Angola to prosper, it is essential to create conditions that stimulate private initiative, promote entrepreneurship and leverage national productive capacity” , said this Thursday the president of the MPLA parliamentary group, Reis Júnior.
The leader of the MPLA parliamentary group stated that “he is aware that there are no budgets capable of meeting all needs”, but this Budget proposal “meets the main challenges felt by Angolan families and companies present in Angola. Identifies, faces and proposes to solve concrete problems”.
Reis Júnior, who presented the MPLA's statement in the parliament's discussion of the OGE proposal for the year 2025, considers that the instrument prioritizes sustainable and inclusive development and reinforces attention to health, education, social inclusion and national infrastructures.
The OGE 2025 proposal estimates equal amounts of revenue and expenditure, 34.63 billion kwanzas, and foresees a high debt service that will absorb almost 50 percent of the budgeted expenditure.
UNITA has already announced that it will vote against the budget proposal.
For Reis Júnior, who secured the MPLA's favorable vote for OGE 2025, UNITA expresses the stance of an opposition not committed to defending the interests of the people.
“They accuse the executive of doing nothing to diversify the economy, while the weight of agriculture and industry in GDP continues to increase, with growth of 5 percent and 3.1 percent, respectively,” he said, maintaining that the aforementioned numbers “they contradict the pessimistic narrative that everything is wrong in Angola”.
