According to Zeca Cassanguidi, CEO of the Mina Gema company – a partner in the Lavoura Esperança farm –, the oil factory is part of an investment with foreign capital.
Quoted in a statement from the provincial government of Lunda Norte, to which VerAngola had access, the official assured that "contacts have already been made with the investors", adding that "in addition to the oil factory, the installation of a cornmeal processing industry is also planned, a measure that aims to boost agribusiness activity in the province of Lunda Norte and in the eastern region of the country".
Speaking to the press, quoted by Angop, on the sidelines of the third edition of Expo-Dundo, which kicked off this Wednesday in the city of Dundo, Cassanguidi revealed that the investment to install the factory unit will be made by a businessman from the Czech Republic.
According to the official, communications with the businessman are at an advanced stage and the collaboration is almost complete, awaiting only government support to create the fundamental conditions to install the factory unit.
He added that, with its own investment, the agricultural project foresees the installation of a large mill this year, aiming to transform corn into cornmeal, writes Angop.
As for the supply of electricity, he pointed out that the farm is collaborating with the local administration to find solutions to transport electricity generated in the Luachimo dam to Lóvua (the municipality where the farm is located).
The CEO of the Mina Gema company ruled out any problems with water and access to transport products, indicating that the municipality has road connections and the farm has generated artesian wells.
According to the official, the initiative "aims to reduce Angola's dependence on the import of cooking oils and increase national production, invest in the diversification of the national economy, guarantee employment, as well as align itself with the commitment to promote a dynamic to signal the economic transformation of the province into a strong and economically capable area for the challenges of the present and the future", the statement states.
The Lavoura Esperança farm has over 2000 workers and is focused on the production of corn, beans, soybeans and wheat. It was implemented last year, within the framework of the National Plan for the Promotion of Grain Production.
