According to the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC), the 33-year-old woman, a businesswoman, was a passenger acting as a mule (a term used to describe an individual who carries drugs on their body and is paid by others to do so), and is accused of drug trafficking.
The SIC note highlights that the drugs were being transported hidden in the stomach and genitals.
“The arrest occurred when passengers were disembarking from a flight operated by the national airline TAAG Angola Airlines, originating from the city of Guarulhos, State of São Paulo/Federative Republic of Brazil,” the document also highlights.
Last week, on the occasion of World Anti-Drugs Day, national authorities incinerated 295 kilograms of cocaine seized over the last two years in Luanda.
At the time, the SIC spokesperson, Manuel Haialwa, said that most of the drugs seized during the period in question came from Brazil, from the town of Guarulhos, São Paulo, mostly via the airport and some by sea, hidden in boxes of chicken thighs and fans in refrigerated containers.
