The project is being developed by the Opaia Group in partnership with Volvo Buses and Auto Sueco Angola, says a statement from the provincial government of Bengo, to which VerAngola had access.
Budgeted at 90 million dollars, this project will generate approximately 2500 jobs, informed the president of the Board of Directors (PCA) of the Opaia Group, Agostinho Kapaia.
Quoted in the statement, Agostinho Kapaia made it known that the initiative, valued at 90 million dollars, will be implemented in a total area of 25 hectares, as well as "providing around 1500 direct jobs and approximately 1000 indirect jobs".
The manufacturing unit will be financed by Afreximbank and, according to Kapaia, cited by Angop, the intention is that it not only supply the national market, but also export to other areas of the African continent.
In turn, the Secretary of State for Transport, Jorge Bengue, said that the sector is working hard to renew the bus fleet, and the construction of this manufacturing unit will help to significantly reduce costs, while the Swedish ambassador to Angola, Lennart Killander Larsson highlighted the importance of the project, considering that it will have a major impact on the transport sector in the country.
The initiative, whose cleaning of the site where the factory will be built has already started, was presented last Friday, at the site where the project was implemented, with the ceremony attended by Jorge Bengue and Lennart Killander Larsson.
With an "annual production of around 1000 buses", the manufacturing unit will cover the chassis integration line, painting, etc.
