According to a statement from the SIC, the diamonds were found at the home of the 35-year-old man, in the Calonda neighbourhood (Lunda Norte), where 6,750 thousand dollars, 2,172 thousand kwanzas, two calculators, a diamond weighing scale, a diamond testing machine and a set of sieves used in the illicit activities of buying and selling diamonds were also seized.
The suspect will be presented to the Public Prosecutor's Office magistrate for subsequent legal proceedings.
Also on Monday, in the province of Uíge, the authorities carried out an operation that resulted in the seizure of 6180 litres of fuel and arrested a 46-year-old man, who is indicted for the crime of circulating petroleum products for smuggling.
The police operation took place in two villages, with the product stored in two residences, totaling 289 drums with a capacity of twenty liters each of diesel and two drums of 200 liters of gasoline.
The aim was to cross the border and sell the fuel in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and efforts are being made to completely dismantle the network involved in the operation, according to the SIC.
