In a press release, TAAG recalls that last October the airline had already announced that the renewal of its fleet is underway, with the order of four 787 Dreamliners aircraft from the manufacturer Boeing.
In addition to the aircraft order, TAAG also signed a TrueChoice services agreement, which covers the existing fleet of five Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, with a GE90 engine.
According to the document, to which the Lusa agency had access, GE Aerospace will support TAAG with the supply of parts, repair of components and 'upgrade' of used parts for the B777 fleet, with GE90-115B engines.
"We are excited to continue developing our partnership with GE Aerospace," said Eduardo Fairen, president of the TAAG Executive Committee, quoted in the note.
According to him, this agreement demonstrates the company's commitment to modernizing its fleet with more efficient equipment and providing a better flight experience for its passengers.
"These agreements demonstrate the continued confidence that TAAG Linhas Aéreas de Angola places in GE Aerospace engines and services", highlighted, in turn, Kathy MacKenzie, vice president of GE Commercial Programs for the GE Aerospace business line.
Kathy Mackenzie highlighted that this is "highly efficient and reliable equipment".
The note highlights that the GEnx engine family has more than 50 million flight hours since entering service in 2011, and is the best-selling high-thrust engine in GE's history, with almost 3000 engines in service and in portfolio, including spare parts.
Statistics indicate that two out of every three Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft in service are powered by the GEnx-1B engine.
GE Aerospace is a leading global provider of jet engines, components and systems for commercial and military aircraft, with a global service network to support these offerings.
