João Lourenço wants TAAG to fly to cities in the United States of America

The President of the Republic intends for TAAG, the national airline, to carry out flights to some cities in the United States of America, a country with which Angola is, he said, improving ties of friendship and cooperation every day.

:

João Lourenço made this recommendation to the new Secretary of State for the Civil Aviation, Maritime and Port sectors, Rui Carreira, sworn in this Monday, who asked for particular attention to TAAG, without prejudice to the other areas he will also direct.

The head of state asked for more ambition to make TAAG "a more competitive company, which better serves its passengers, its users".

According to João Lourenço, Angola has an obligation with TAAG to better serve the African continent, opening more routes in Africa.

"We have to have the ambition to open more routes on the Asian continent, we cannot be content with flying only to China, in the same way as with the American continent, we cannot be content with flying only to Brazil", said João Lourenço , expressing the desire to see connections to the European continent also increased.

The President added that it is necessary to have the ambition to fly "to some cities in the United States of America".

"We are improving every day the ties of friendship and cooperation with the USA, which has opened doors for us and, therefore, this opportunity must be well taken advantage of", he highlighted.

According to João Lourenço, Angola already has "a fleet that is not small at all", despite having some low resources that need to be brought back up, regardless of whether it is waiting, in the coming years, to receive more resources already ordered and announced.

"So this is the mission, it's quite important, but we believe that based on the experience you have in the field of aviation - in fact you've never done anything other than that, you've never left the house - I believe we were right in the bet we made on you", he declared.
