The forum will take place from Wednesday to Friday, organized by the Government of Angola in partnership with the African Union and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco).
Carlos Vila Nova stressed that it is necessary to develop a culture of peace among young Africans, "which is expected to account for 42 percent" of the continent's population by 2030, given the "countless conflicts that afflict the world".
The São Tomé head of state considered that peace is important because it can help to stop these conflicts, or prevent them from taking place at all, and because it allows people to be better prepared to deal with these issues and find the best solutions.
"We will participate in the debate, we will defend peace as we have always done. We believe that dialogue is the only way for understanding between people, between nations everywhere and conflict takes us nowhere. It only increases hatred, it only creates discouragement, it only creates sadness and it creates pain", said the São Tomé head of state.
Carlos Vila Nova traveled to Angola on the same plane that transported the President of Cape Verde, José Maria Neves, who stopped in São Tomé, where he met with some leaders of the archipelago at the airport facilities.
