Ambassador of Angola highlighted “excellent” and “privileged” relations with Portugal

The Angolan ambassador in Lisbon highlighted Friday the “excellence of relations” with Portugal, and highlighted that “economic relations and economic and business cooperation are vital bases for sustaining these privileged relations”.

Maria de Jesus dos Reis Ferreira, who was speaking at the official ceremony commemorating Angola's 48 years of independence, which was celebrated on Saturday, added that she was "with satisfaction" that the Angolan State records "the existence of more than four thousand Portuguese companies developing activities" in your country.

The diplomat highlighted that the Angolan government "has been making diligent efforts to ensure that direct private investment in Angola has a more impetuous growth, especially in the priority areas defined by Angola and in which Portuguese companies have significant experience".

In this regard, she recalled that the visit that the Prime Minister, António Costa, made last June to Angola "allowed for deepening dialogue and strengthening bilateral relations of friendship and cooperation", "as well as strengthening partnerships in various areas, in particular in the economic and financial domain".

Still in relation to this visit, the Angolan ambassador added that on the occasion it was announced about the "reinforcement of government credit [by Portugal], by more than 500 million euros, to support Portuguese companies operating in Angola", considering This is a "tangible contribution to help reinforce the participation of these companies, also in accordance with the government's development program" in their country.

Maria de Jesus Ferreira also recalled that, during this visit, "important cooperation instruments were signed between the two countries, with emphasis on the Strategic Cooperation Program 2023-2027, aligned with the strategic priorities of the government of the Republic of Angola, outlined in the National Development Program, and in areas where Portugal has recognized experience of comparative advantages".

On the social network Facebook, the Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs congratulated Angola on the 48th anniversary of independence.

"Happy Independence Day, Angola! The excellent relations between Portugal and Angola are based on historical ties and friendship between the two peoples and a shared commitment to peace and prosperity", reads the message released.
