Speaking to the press, João Lourenço stated that the Executive is doing "the best for the country" by investing in the health sector, with new equipped hospital units.
With a capacity for 200 beds, the hospital is made up of 20 blocks, distributed across administration, inpatient, outpatient, medical services, logistics, morgue and T2-type residences for professionals on duty.
The Minister of Health, Sílvia Lutucuta, referred to this hospital as a modern infrastructure, where science, technology and innovation come together to offer humanized care to the population.
"The Bengo General Hospital 'Reverendo Pereira English' was built with the aim of being a reference unit in excellent humanized care, scientific research and staff training and will work in an integrated manner with various levels of care", she stated.
The holder of the Health portfolio also added that the hospital will guarantee the provision of medium and high complexity services, greatly reducing evacuations to Luanda and abroad. This will also involve serving the local population and neighboring provinces.
"The hospital will have professionals from various careers, doctors, nurses, diagnostic technicians, hospital and business support and human resources will be increased by hiring more professionals to reach the target of 1546", she said.
Sílvia Lutucuta highlighted, on the other hand, that the hospital has a strong commitment to training staff at various levels and is starting a rotation program for doctors and specialty interns from other provinces in the areas of imaging and anesthesiology.
Built on an area of 45 thousand hectares, the infrastructure cost the State coffers more than 60.1 million dollars. The execution of the work, since August 2021, has been carried out by the company Promed.
