Council of Ministers gives 'green light' to 23 billion action plan for Luanda

The Council of Ministers, in a special session held this Thursday at the Presidential Palace, approved a package of actions to be carried out in the territory of the province of Luanda during the recently started term.

Guided by the President of the Republic, the meeting represented the conclusion of the session on 19 October, in which the provincial government submitted to the Council of Ministers a first approach to what, in its opinion, should be done in Luanda to improve the quality of citizens' lives.

This Thursday, the Executive body gave the green light to the implementation "of a broad and multifaceted plan of achievements in the capital, which should bring visible answers to problems such as the insufficiency of schools, hospital infrastructure, basic sanitation, mobility, water and light and infrastructure land", says a government statement to which VerAngola had access.

According to Angop, the Integrated Intervention Plan for the Province of Luanda has a global budget of around 12.02 billion kwanzas (about US$23.6 billion) for the execution of 2,786 projects in the period from 2023 to 2027. .

The President of the Republic highlighted as absolute priorities the construction of accesses (road and rail) to Dr. António Agostinho Neto – taking into account its opening in the first half of 2023 –, the improvement of road exits from the capital and the Marginal da Corimba, among others.

Particular attention should also be paid, according to the Head of State, to the valorization of noble lands currently in sub-revenue, as is the case of the old popular market Roque Santeiro, Morro da Samba and Morro da Luz: "These are areas privileged areas for housing, offices, hotels, of a differentiated level. We must be able to attract the interest of investors, whether foreign or national, to give these areas another life", stated João Lourenço.
