Fishery with freezing capacity of 190 tons of fish inaugurated in Baía Farta

Manuel Nunes Júnior, Minister of State for Economic Coordination, this Wednesday inaugurated a fishery in Baía Farta. Called Gallianus Pesca, the company is the result of an investment of 14 million dollars, being able to freeze 190 tons and conserve 40 of fish.

Built in just over a year, the company employs 147 people and occupies a global area of ​​22,384 square meters and 3694 square meters are reserved for production.

Regarding the construction, the company's general director, Marcos Cohen, explained that it dates back to 2021, lasting one year and four months and that there were some stops due to the contractor.

On the occasion, he also informed that the fishery currently has a "100 ton vessel", having already ordered another 130 ton vessel: "At the moment we have a 100 ton vessel and we have already ordered another 130 ton vessel, which will help increase the capacity to catch and process fish", he said, quoted by Angop.

Luís Nunes, governor of Benguela, said that they witnessed the birth of another company in the fishing sector that will help in the progress of the region and the country.

Cited by Angop, he also considered that the "private initiative" should continue to obtain its true position to stimulate the economy, bringing more competitiveness and diversification to the market.

Luís Nunes also promised to direct the provincial government's attention to the activities of those wishing to invest or live in Benguela, transforming administrative procedures into something faster and more effective, for the continuous economic development of the province, writes Angop.

The initiative was also applauded by Ana Maria do Sacramento Neto, Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources, who, cited by Angop, took the opportunity to emphasize the company's state-of-the-art technology and the modern approach to job creation and fishing viability.

"The fisheries sector and marine resources are now embedded in a blue economy context, which implies a high responsibility towards the country and the world", she said.

She also expressed the institutional support of her guardianship, leaving the promise to help all those involved in the sector and added that they will "protect Angola's marine heritage through sustainable fishing, through the knowledge and assessment of marine biodiversity".

She also mentioned the bad behavior that has impacted fishing, referring that "all together we will improve the inspection of fishing activities, since things are now more identified", writes Angop.
