Improving the living conditions of the population is a priority for the Government, says Carolina Cerqueira

The Minister of State for the Social Area, Carolina Cerqueira, stated that improving the living conditions of the population is a priority for the Government. However, she admitted that this is not an “exclusive task” of the Executive.

:

"This commitment is not an exclusive task of the Government. It calls for the participation of everyone, through business or through social solidarity, and here are included companies with their social responsibility," stated the official.

Speaking at the National Seminar on Social Responsibility, the minister informed that several programs are under way, framed in the National Plan for National Development 2018/2022, "which have benefited the most needy populations in different regions of the country, with the aim of improving the quality of life and the empowerment of families".

Quoted in a note posted on the Government's Facebook, Carolina Cerqueira assured that the Government will continue to support companies with social responsibility: "This encouragement by the State is well reflected in the Patronage Law, which establishes a set of tax benefits for companies that, altruistically, provide services, finance, in whole or in part, social, cultural, educational, sporting, environmental, youth, scientific, technological and training projects or projects for communities".

She also considered that in the country there are several "encouraging examples of social responsibility from companies, financial institutions and development agencies, which participate in human and community development programs, with a view to mitigating the countless needs and difficulties that populations face".

The communiqué also states that at the end of the seminar, the participants concluded that "companies that act with social responsibility contribute significantly to social progress and inclusion, to the transformation of citizens' lives in communities and that the Angolan State should continue to work on promoting incentives for companies".

In turn, Maria de Fátima Viegas, secretary of the President of the Republic for Social Affairs, admitted that the conclusions of the event will lead to "significant changes" as well as "readjustments in the engagement of companies, the Executive and social partners".
