According to the secretary of state, the mining sector in the region is estimated to reach a production target of 10.055 million carats.
Cited by Angop, Jânio Correa Victor explained that the target set is based on the start of the first phase of the Luaxe project, next year, in which production levels are higher than in relation to other projects present in the province.
Regarding last year, the Secretary of State announced that the target of 8.31 million carats had been established, with 7,907 million carats having been executed. This year, between January and October, 6,592 million carats were executed.
Speaking to Angop, Jânio Correa Victor informed that the objective is, by December of this year, to reach 9.41 million carats of diamonds, stressing that, on average, the country produces around nine million carats of diamonds per year.
He also took the opportunity to indicate that Endiama has, until January of next year, a process of recruiting young people and technicians in geology and mines, environmentalists, among other specialists in the sector, with the aim of guaranteeing the normal functioning of the mines.
He also stated that one of the Government's priorities for the next year is to put a brake on the prospecting, which has been causing delays in some projects and explained that, for this purpose, the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas has outlined a program to legitimize the diamond cooperatives.
