MPLA: Venâncio collects signatures in the provinces and expects “common sense” after the closing of the candidacies

The deadline for submission of candidacies to the MPLA leadership ended last Friday, but António Venâncio continues to collect signatures in the provinces. The engineer says he expects “common sense” on the part of the body responsible for the candidacies, which has already requested an extension of the candidacy submission deadline, but which so far has not received any response.

António Venâncio, who has been in Bié since this Tuesday morning, revealed that he had already managed to gather more than 2000 signatures. Cited by Angop, the engineer informed that the provinces of Luanda, Cabinda and Cunene have already surpassed the 100 mandatory signatures.

Without specifying, Venâncio indicated that other provinces still need to be 'convinced'.

According to Angop, the engineer, who has already been to seven provinces, wants to visit Cuando Cubango, Cuanza Sul, Huambo and Benguela until next Friday.

António Venâncio – who has already asked for the extension of the deadline for candidacy submission, but who has not yet received an answer – said that if his candidacy is not accepted he will appeal to the party's Discipline and Audit Committee.

The delivery of candidacies for the party leadership opened last month, on October 20th, and ran until November 5th. Each candidate had to submit a candidacy with at least 2000 signatures (100 signatures in each of the 18 provinces).
