Covid-19: Angola registers 50 new cases and 1774 recoveries in 24 hours

Angola registered 50 new cases of covid-19, plus two deaths, in Luanda and Malanje, and 1774 people recovered from the disease, in the last 24 hours, informed this Thursday the health authorities.

Luanda registered the highest number of new cases, 30, followed by the provinces of Uíge (six), Cabinda (four), Huíla (four), Huambo (two), Malanje (two) and Cunene and Zaire with one case each.

According to the epidemiological bulletin of the National Directorate of Public Health, recoveries were reported in Luanda (1754), Cuando-Cubango (11), Malanje (eight) and one in Huíla province.

During this period, the laboratories processed 4237 samples by RT-PCR with a daily positivity rate of 1.2 percent. The cumulative points to 1,127,067 processed samples with a positivity rate of 5.7 percent.

Angola, which since Monday has required the presentation of the vaccine certificate or confirmation of taking the first dose for access to public and private spaces, totals 64,583 positive cases, 56,590 of which recovered from the disease, 6275 active and 1718 deaths.

Covid-19 has caused at least 5,020,845 deaths worldwide, among more than 248.03 million infections by the new coronavirus registered since the beginning of the pandemic, according to the most recent report by the Agence France-Presse.

The respiratory disease is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, detected at the end of 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China, and currently with variants identified in several countries.
