CASA-CE asks for revision of process related to the murder of militants

The CASA-CE coalition asked the judicial authorities to review the criminal case brought against agents of the Presidential Guard Unit (UGP) for the “murder” seven years ago of their youth patron, Hilbert Ganga.

The Wide Convergence of Salvation of Angola - Electoral Coalition (CASA-CE) pays tribute to Hilbert de Carvalho Ganga this Monday and asks for justice to be done.

For the presidential college of CASA-CE, the revision of the process "will give moral and material meaning" to the maxim defended by the Angolan President, João Lourenço: "No one is so powerful that he cannot be punished, nor too poor that he cannot be protected" .

Hilbert de Carvalho Ganga was allegedly killed by UGP elements after being detained when he placed posters on the perimeter of the Presidency of the Republic in Luanda. The posters alluded to the disappearance and death of two activists, Isaías Cassule and Alves Kamulingue.

Both were murdered in 2012, when they tried to organize a demonstration, which aimed to demand the payment of overdue wages and compensation to the Government of José Eduardo dos Santos, as former UGP members.

The confessed author of the shots that killed Hilbert Ganga, Desidério Patrício Barros, initially accused by the Public Ministry of voluntary homicide, was acquitted in 2015 by the Luanda Provincial Court.

This Monday, CASA-CE says, in a press note sent to Lusa, that Hilbert de Carvalho Ganga, patron of the Patriotic Youth of Angola (JPA), the youth arm of the coalition, was martyr to the repression against freedoms and rights citizenship.

"We pay the simple and well-deserved tribute to the brave young engineer, Hilbert de Carvalho Ganga, shot in peace in time by agents of the Presidential Security Unit", reads the document.

The coalition's presidential college, led by Admiral André Mendes de Carvalho "Miau", "also reaffirms" its "patriotic commitment and commitment to keep the figure of Ganga alive in the memory of Angolans and in the annals of our recent history".

CASA-CE considers Hilbert de Carvalho Ganga "an inexhaustible source of inspiration for young Angolans, who continue to struggle for the realization of the democratic and legal state in Angola".

The second political force in the opposition, which says it is "concerned" with the "troubled" social situation in Angola, also urges Angolans, especially young people, to "stay focused and not renounce the present and not postpone their dreams".

"Seeking with serenity, responsibility and attitude, always by means of legality, the paths leading to the full realization of Angola and the Angolans, purposes because Hilbert Ganga and all the other heroes of our country fought", points out the coalition.
