Covid-19: country reports 203 new cases and four deaths

The country has registered another 203 infections by the new coronavirus and four deaths, in the last 24 hours, a total of 13,818 cases and 328 deaths, the Secretary of State for Public Health, Franco Mufinda, announced this Tuesday.

Of the new cases, 119 were notified in Luanda, 50 in Kwanza Norte, 11 in Cuando Cubango, 10 in Huambo, nine in Benguela and four in Bié.

The disease was diagnosed in 136 males and 67 females, aged 11 months to 70 years.

There were also four deaths by covid-19, three men and one woman, 34, 52, 58 and 72 years old, all of Angolan nationality, as well as 59 people given as recovered from the disease.

In total, 13,818 cases of covid-19 have been reported in Angola, of which 328 deaths, 6582 were considered recovered and 6908 active, of which nine were in critical condition and 10 severe.

198,428 samples have been processed to date, of which 2879 in the last 24 hours.

The covid-19 pandemic has caused over 1.3 million deaths worldwide since December last year, including 3553 in Portugal, and over 55 million cases of infection worldwide, according to a balance sheet made by the French agency AFP.

In Africa, there are 47,647 confirmed deaths in more than 1.9 million infected in 55 countries, according to the most recent pandemic statistics on the continent.

Angola registers 328 deaths and 13,818 cases, followed by Mozambique (116 deaths and 14,514 cases), Cape Verde (103 deaths and 9840 cases), Equatorial Guinea (85 deaths and 5121 cases), Guinea-Bissau (43 deaths and 2421 cases) and São Tomé and Príncipe (16 deaths and 967 cases).

The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected in late December 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China.
