In addition to serving to officially present the gold medal, the meeting with the minister also served to discuss "themes relevant to the development of mixed martial arts in Angola, including access to sponsorship and support for athletes", informs the Angolan Federation of Mixed Martial Arts (FAMMA), in a statement to which VerAngola had access.

However, the return of the Angolan MMA champion to the country is not only marked by this meeting with the holder of the Youth and Sports portfolio. According to the federation, on Saturday, the fighter will participate in a special training session with the national Mixed Martial Arts team.

"In addition, on Saturday, October 19, 2024, Demarte Pena will participate in a special training session with the national Mixed Martial Arts team, at the Eleison Gym, located in Bairro Militar, in Luanda", says the note.

According to FAMMA, the aforementioned training "is part of the preparation of the team for the MMA World Championship", which will be held in Uzbekistan, between November 5th and 11th.

"Demarte Pena's experience will be a valuable addition to the team's efforts, and an opportunity for athletes to prepare at the highest level", the federation also points out.

Demarte Pena arrived in the country on Wednesday, having landed at Luanda International Airport.

It is worth remembering that at the end of last month, Demarte Pena defeated Brazilian opponent Marcel Adur in the Warriors 53 International Tournament, whose victory guaranteed him access to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
