According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Mirex), "Ukraine sees Angola as a fundamental actor on the African continent and intends to strengthen political-diplomatic ties, counting on the support of all countries that, like Angola, are defenders of peace and of international stability".
Téte António, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Andrii Sybiha, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Ukraine, reviewed the current state of relations between the two countries, with a view to intensifying cooperation in previously launched areas such as food security, veterinary and animal health.
In addition to ongoing projects, conversations focused on agreements being negotiated, such as the Agreement to Avoid Double Taxation and the Agreement on Promotion and Reciprocal Protection of Investments.
Ambassador Téte António reiterated Angola's position in the face of the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, defending "a peaceful and negotiated solution" and recalled that the President of the Republic "defended the urgency of a ceasefire and negotiations that respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Ukraine".
The head of Ukrainian diplomacy "showed interest in intensifying cooperation ties with Angola in various sectors, especially in the fields of agriculture and staff training", says the press release
Diplomatic relations between Angola and Ukraine were formally established in December 1994.
An important milestone in bilateral relations was the signing, in 2001, of a Memorandum of Cooperation on Bilateral Political Consultations, which has served as the basis for regular consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Angola and Ukraine.
Over the years, the two countries have consolidated their relations in sectors such as Higher Education, Defense, Agriculture, Fisheries, Science and Technology and Commerce.
