According to a statement from CIPRA, the message was delivered by the special envoy of the President of the Republic of Djibouti, Mahmoud Ali Youssou, who held a meeting with João Lourenço this Wednesday.
In this sense, Mahmoud Ali Youssou delivered a letter to the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, "on behalf of his counterpart, Ismail Omar Guelleh, who expresses interest in strengthening cooperation between the two countries, especially in the areas of logistics and the development of corridors of transport".
"Djibouti, which manages important corridors that connect the country to Ethiopia and South Sudan, proposes to Angola to exchange experiences on the Lobito Corridor, which the country is developing, as a way of boosting infrastructure progress in the African continent", says the statement.
In addition to strengthening cooperation between the two countries, the meeting also served to discuss Mahmoud Ali Youssou's candidacy for the presidency of the African Union Commission.
At the hearing, the note says, Mahmoud Ali Youssou, "candidate for the presidency of the African Union Commission, requested Angola's support for his candidacy".
On the occasion, the leader highlighted the importance of "strategic partnerships for the development of infrastructure" on the African continent, "praised the role of João Lourenço", as Champion of the African Union for peace and reconciliation, as well as expressing the "desire to collaborate with the 'peace mediator', if elected".
"I will, in fact, be completely available to support President João Lourenço, so that, when he assumes leadership of the African Union in 2025, we can carry out the projects he wants for Africa. It will be a synergy that we will enhance", said the diplomat, cited in the statement.
The hearing also served to address issues related to the "promotion of renewable energy and the local transformation of natural resources, with the aim of adding value to African economies".
