Angola wins gold and bronze medals in bodybuilding world championship

The country had a brilliant performance in the bodybuilding world championship, winning gold and bronze. Athlete Yuri Valentim was responsible for winning the gold.

The Angolan Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness, in a statement to which VerAngola had access, informs that Yuri Valentim became world bodybuilding champion in the classic physique elected pro category.

"In the event, the athlete in the classic physique elected pro category, Yuri Valentim, won the gold medal, leaving behind several strong opponents, who from a theoretical point of view were favorites", the note reads.

The bronze was won by Aquiles Epolua. "The African champion in the open elite pro bodybuilding category, Aquiles Epolua, landed on the third floor of the podium with the bronze medal on his chest", informs the federation.

In turn, the note adds, Samuel Nzage "from the men's physique elite pro category was left out of the top 10 of the competition".

In the amateur version, the highlight fell on Danilo Carvalho, who won fifth place. "As for the Arnold Classic in Europe, the amateur version, held simultaneously with the world championship, Danilo Carvalho from classic physique up to 1.72, came in fifth place", reads the statement.

According to the federation, the winning of the two medals in the event, where three professional athletes represented the country, took place last Saturday (14 October).

The professional world cup took place in Madrid (Spain), with the national delegation being headed by the president of the Angolan Bodybuilding Federation, Bráulio Martins.
