According to Public Television of Angola, 14 people died at the scene and two others, who were part of the group of 17 injured, died at the Cuanza Norte Provincial Hospital, where they were receiving medical assistance.
The accident, which took place in the Embondeiro neighborhood, municipality of Lucala, Cuanza Norte, resulted from a collision between two trucks, one of which was transporting workers, and police authorities point to excessive speed as the main cause.
Road accidents are the second cause of deaths in Angola after malaria.
