At the ceremony, which took place this Monday, the head of state swore in Jorge Miguêns Augusto (vice-governor of Luanda for the Economic Sector), Franco Mufinda (vice-governor of Malanje for the Political, Social and Economic Sector) and Abel Capitango (vice-governor of Namibe for the Political, Social and Economic Sector).
On the occasion, according to a statement from CIPRA, to which VerAngola had access, the President of the Republic indicated economic diversification as the "new struggle of Angolans for the economic and social development" of Angola, after covid-19.
"What I would like to say is that, for everyone, the fight, fortunately today, is no longer against covid-19, but for the diversification of our economy, for the economic and social development of our country", pointed out João Lourenço, quoted in the statement.
The head of state also praised Franco Mufinda "for his remarkable work in combating" the pandemic, when he assumed the role of Secretary of State for Public Health.
"Among those sworn in, we have someone who stood out in the fight against covid-19. Today, he is sworn in for other functions", said the President of the Republic.
As for the three new vice-governors, João Lourenço appealed to them to help the governors in fulfilling this "great responsibility".
"My hope is that they will help the governors to fulfill this great responsibility that belongs to all of us", he stated, taking the opportunity to wish them "success in carrying out their new functions".
Remember that last week the President of the Republic dismissed the vice-governors of Luanda and Namibe. At the time, he appointed Jorge Miguêns Augusto as vice-governor of the province of Luanda for the Economic Sector, and Abel do Rosário Kapitango as vice-governor of the province of Namibe for the Political, Social and Economic Sector, as well as Franco Cazembe Mufinda for the position vice-governor of the province of Malanje for the Political, Social and Economic Sector.
