According to authorities, the arrest occurred on Monday, pursuant to a search and seizure warrant issued by the Public Prosecutor's Office and executed by officers from the Central Directorate for Combating Illicit Trafficking in Stones, Precious Metals, and Environmental Crimes, in coordination with other defense and security forces.
During the operation, several items typically used in this type of criminal activity were seized, including a precision mini-digital scale, two magnifying glasses, a calculator, and a video surveillance system (CCTV). These items were found in the office of the suspect, who claims to be a businessman, the SIC (National Security Council) said in a statement.
The citizen, originally from Guinea-Conakry, will be presented to the Public Prosecutor's Office "for subsequent legal proceedings."
