Parfait Onanga-Anyanga was received, this Tuesday, in an audience by the head of State, having on the occasion conveyed greetings from the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres. "I had the privilege of having this meeting with President João Lourenço. Firstly, it served to convey greetings from (...) Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, and also to represent him in this 147th assembly of the union interparliamentary", said the special representative, in statements to the press, cited by Televisão Pública de Angola (TPA).

The special representative also said that he had the opportunity to "be able to present the Secretary General's thanks" to João Lourenço for his "commitment to peace, stability and involvement at regional level".

"I also had the opportunity to present the Secretary General's thanks to the president of Angola for his commitment to peace, stability and involvement in the region," he said.

According to Parfait Onanga-Anyanga, congratulations were also addressed to the President of the Republic in his capacity as champion of the African Union for peace and reconciliation and also for "his new mission as president of SADC", which they say they hope that with his commitment and efforts the head of state can work so that SADC and the Great Lakes are capable of "treading the paths of peace, happiness and development".

"We also congratulate him in his capacity as champion of the African Union for peace and reconciliation and, equally, we had the opportunity to congratulate him on his new mission as president of SADC, from which we hope that with his commitment, with their efforts, will be able to work towards ensuring that SADC, the Great Lakes region, can follow the paths of peace, happiness and development", he indicated, quoted by TPA.

During the day on Tuesday, the President of the Republic also held separate meetings with other political personalities who are in the country participating in the 147th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union. In addition to Parfait Onanga-Anyanga, the head of State met with the President of the Assembly of the Portuguese Republic, Augusto Santos Silva, the President of the National Parliament of Cote D' Ivoire, Adama Bictogo, and also with a delegation from the Francophonie Parliamentary Assembly, headed by Bruno Fuchs.

The meeting with the President of the National Parliament of Cote D' Ivoire, Adama Bictogo, served to address "issues of strengthening economic ties between Angola and Cote D' Ivoire".

In turn, Bruno Fuchs stated that "the world is moving towards total extremism", there are several conflicts and that they know "the engagement" of the President of the Republic "in resolving conflicts", which is why they consider him "an ideal partner is important".

"Since we, as the Francophonie, have the ideal of peace, reconciliation, understanding, and the President of the Republic also has this as his prerogative, we spoke to the President that we would in fact be very open to working with them on these central issues that It has to do with peace and security", he added, quoted by TPA.
