According to a note from the Presidency of the Republic, to which VerAngola had access, Angola and Kenya signed, last Saturday, 11 cooperation agreements.

"A vast spectrum of relations between the two countries was covered by the historic step taken today [Saturday] in Nairobi, paving the way for cooperation in sectors such as tourism, protection and maintenance of wildlife, oil and gas, agriculture, youth development, telecommunications and information technologies, health, training of staff for Public Administration and diplomacy", the note reads.

According to the statement, among the recently initialed legal instruments, "the understanding that will allow any Angolan with a valid ordinary passport to travel to Kenya without the need for a visa" stands out.

"The provision also covers diplomatic passports and is a measure taken unilaterally by the Government of Nairobi", adds the Presidency of the Republic.

Angola, according to the note, "dispenses with visas in diplomatic passports in use by Kenyan citizens, reserving the modality of facilitating the obtaining of visas for Kenyans with ordinary passports who intend to travel to Angola".

After witnessing the signing of the agreements, the two Presidents gave statements to the press. On the occasion, João Lourenço took the opportunity to highlight the relevance of the signed instruments, as they will contribute to bringing the two peoples closer together, as well as, among other aspects, defending the resumption of air links between the two countries, writes Angop.

According to another note from the Presidency of the Republic, to which VerAngola had access, João Lourenço also made it known that he "extended an invitation" to his Kenyan counterpart "to make an official visit to Angola, as soon as he can fit it into his schedule".

The last activity on the head of state's agenda in Kenya consisted of a tribute to Jomo Kenyatta. "As the last activity of the program established for the State visit to Kenya, the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, was this Saturday afternoon at the Mausoleum of Jomo Kenyatta, the country's first President", says the Presidency, which adds that João Lourenço, accompanied by the first lady, Ana Dias Lourenço, "laid a wreath at the site".

The head of state returned to the country on Saturday, after a mission marked by "the signing of agreements, a total of eleven, which will significantly raise the level of cooperation relations with that east African country", says still the Presidency.
