Minister estimates seven percent growth in industry and commerce in 2022

The Minister of Industry and Commerce estimated that the sector he directs will reach growth of around seven percent this year and praised the start-up of a new confectionery industry in the country.

"We, from the point of view of industry and commerce, are estimating growth that will reach seven percent, which somewhat follows the growth that the sector has. This year we unfortunately had the pandemic, but we believe that we will still maintain the round of growth that should be up to about seven percent", said this Wednesday Vítor Fernandes.

Speaking after opening the Candy Factory Angola, a new confectionery company, in Luanda, the official highlighted the importance of the new confectionery factory, especially in the creation of jobs for young people.

"This factory produces sweets, chewing gum and what it has are 90 employees and it produces jobs for our young people, then it will have about 350 direct and indirect jobs", he stressed.

Vítor Fernandes also assumed that Angola is not yet self-sufficient in the production of sugar, a raw material for the confectionery industry, noting that the country produces around 120,000 tonnes a year.

"We consume something like 200,000 [tons]. We are not yet self-sufficient, we have a large production, but we are not yet self-sufficient," he replied to journalists.

Candy Factory Angola, a new confectionery company, began investing in the country with an investment of more than 15 billion kwanzas with an installed capacity of 6,700 tons per year.

The candy factory, including sweets, chewing gum and sambapitos, is located in the Luanda-Bengo Special Economic Zone (ZEE) and was inaugurated by the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Vítor Fernandes.

The project conceived in 2018, and inaugurated this Wednesday, has the partnership of the NELT group, a reference company in the Balkan countries in the field of distribution and logistics, has already created 90 direct jobs and aims to reach 350 direct jobs. and indirect over the next two years.
