The operator Africell announced this Friday that it already has more than five million customers in Angola, since the beginning of operations last April, and has a new commercial director to accelerate growth in the country.

The new mobile network operator in Angola, which has been operating for six months, has appointed Nigerian Godfrey Efeurhobo as the group's new commercial director to "accelerate its growth in Angola and the Democratic Republic of Congo" (DRCongo).

According to Africell, in a statement sent this Friday to Lusa, the new official joins the operator six months after the launch of services in Angola, "being one of the most developed countries in Africa, where the communications sector has suffered decades of sub-investments".

"By offering fast, low-cost and reliable services, Africell has already been disruptive in the Angolan landscape, having gained more than 5 million customers since April 2022", the statement reads.

For the mobile phone company, the new commercial director and his team will ensure that the operator is able to fully capitalize on the opportunity and continue to expand its coverage across Angola.

Africell holds Angola's 4th unified global telecommunications title and has invested more than 150 million dollars in building a 5G-ready network.

The president and CEO of the Africell group, Ziad Dalloul, quoted in the note, says that Godfrey joins Africell at a crucial time, when the company's portfolio includes two markets with remarkable growth potential, namely Angola and RDCongo.

The operator also adds that in addition to the new operations in Angola, it is currently undergoing major network expansion in DRCongo with several new cities and provinces (including in the east of the country) that came into operation last year".

"As in Angola, Africell has the potential to achieve a significant long-term impact in DRCongo, offering something different to competitors and giving millions of customers better access to telecommunications and digital connectivity", the statement said.

Africell assures, on the other hand, that the new head of the commercial sector should still "strengthen the company's leadership in Sierra Leone and Gambia".
