Small opposition parties available to support Government

The President received this Friday, a day after meeting with the leader of the largest opposition party (UNITA), the top leaders of three opposition political forces with parliamentary seats, who expressed their willingness to work with the Government.

João Lourenço received this Friday in separate audiences the leaders of the Social Renewal Party (PRS), Benedito Daniel, of the Angolan Humanist Party (PHA) Belas Malaquias, and of the National Front for the Liberation of Angola (FNLA), Nimi a Simbi.

At the end of the meeting, Benedito Daniel stressed that this is the first meeting after the general elections on 24 August, in which the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) won.

"The head of state congratulated us for having managed to elect two deputies and we took the opportunity to congratulate his Excellency the President of the Republic for having been elected and we said that we are open to contributing our ideas to the construction of a nation that we intend to build, despite our ideological adversities, but we can live together as Angolans in building a nation", he said.

In turn, Florbela Malaquias said that it was a courtesy meeting, in which the availability of the head of state to strengthen democracy in the relationship with political parties was discussed.

"We, the Humanist Party of Angola, express our availability to always be in line with those points that come to humanize Angola, to strengthen democracy and everything that is good for Angolans, there we will be present", said the leader of the Humanist Party of Angola. Angola.

Florbela Malaquias stressed that she noted at the meeting the need for greater ease and freedom in accessing land for the party to work.

Nimi, Simbi, took to the meeting as a concern the insufficient funds for the payment of the list delegates who worked in the last elections.

"Usually, within the framework of the dialogue between the political actors in Angola, the President invited me to come, to meet, exchange some opinions and I took the opportunity to raise some problems typical of the FNLA", he said, enumerating the lack of funds to pay the delegates of list.

"We did not receive any money to support the list delegates and therefore we were not able to effectively pay the list delegates. This question was put to the President of the Republic, he gave a clue as to how we can proceed to resolve the issue", he stressed.

The head of state also received, on Thursday, the leader of the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA), Adalberto Costa Júnior, who defended at the meeting more democracy for the country and the de-partisanship of institutions.

Angola held its fifth general election on 24 August, and the party in power for 47 years, the MPLA, won and João Lourenço was elected President of the Republic, his second term.
