Still without a start date, the 11 de Novembro Stadium, built in 2010 to host the African Cup of Nations (CAN) in football, will undergo extensive rehabilitation, 11 years after its construction.
Currently, the stadium, which cost more than 227 million dollars, and has a capacity of 50,000 seats, has both damaged electronic boards and elevators, cracks almost all around it, due to lack of maintenance and conservation, one can still observe infiltrations.
The venue also has a damaged athletics track, which has never served the sport since its placement in 2010.
Outside, the largest sports infrastructure in the country faces a desolate scenario, surrounded by grass, and the main accesses blocked by a shipyard, inoperative for more than five years, identified as belonging to Isabel dos Santos, daughter of the former President.
In 2018, five people died of suffocation and seven were injured as they tried to find a way out, after a game between 1.º de Agosto and TP Mazembe, from Democratic Congo, for the quarter-finals of the African Champions League.
