Collapse of a school wall leaves 11 children injured in Huíla

The collapse of the wall of a Catholic school caused serious injuries to 11 children in the municipality of Caconda, Huíla province, announced the local fire service.

According to the acting spokesman for the provincial command of the Civil Protection and Fire Service of Huíla, Fernando Matias, the incident was registered on Monday and affected children aged between 10 and 13 years.

Fernando Matias, quoted by Angolan news agency, Angop, said that the school, assigned to the chapel "Nossa Senhora Rainha dos Apóstolos", had the wall of the room where the children were staying destroyed, following the collapse of a neighboring house, which was made. of adobe (clay blocks).

The official stressed that no deaths were registered, but four of the wounded, who had injuries with open fractures, were transferred to the Hospital de Caluquembe, for specialized assistance.
