PR avisa que “não há esconderijos seguros” para bens adquiridos à custa do erário público

The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, warned this Friday that "there are no safe hiding places" for goods acquired at the expense of the public purse and that the courts will "do everything" to recover them, no matter who is involved.

:

In his message to the nation, which marked the opening of the parliamentary year, João Lourenço stated that, in the current year, almost 5 billion dollars were recovered, in cash, goods, assets or shareholdings, of which 2100 million dollars were implemented in the foreign.

Taking into account the high property damage that the country has suffered as a result of corruption and impunity, the head of State underlined, "there is no doubt that the work to recover the embezzled assets will be arduous and will have to be carried out over many years ", so international cooperation is an essential pillar in this fight, since a large part of the diverted assets were set up outside the country, he said.

In this regard, the Attorney General's Office (PGR) sent 24 rogatory letters and also received 98 letters from different countries that are undergoing treatment.

"There is no safe hiding place for the assets of people who acquired them, deeply damaging the public purse. The Angolan justice will do everything to recover the State resources that have been diverted, regardless of the individual or collective figures involved", guaranteed João Lourenço.
