Covid-19: Angola announces 69 more cases and four deaths

Angola registered 69 new cases of covid-19, four deaths and another 234 patients recovered from the disease, in the last 24 hours, announced the secretary of state for Public Health.

According to Franco Mufinda, 36 cases were reported in Luanda, 26 in Huambo, five in Cabinda, four in Uíge, one in Malanje and one in Moxico, with ages between 3 and 83, of which 45 were male and 24 were female.

Four more deaths were reported due to the disease, four men aged between 49 and 70, of which three were registered in Luanda and one in Malanje.

234 people aged between 1 month and 82 years were considered to have recovered from the disease.

Angola has had 63,930 covid-19 cases since the beginning of the pandemic, of which 1701 died, 52,750 recovered from the disease and 9479 active, including 13 in critical condition and 11 in serious condition.

In this period, 3542 samples were processed and the cumulative points to 1,097,509 samples in total.

Since 2 March, 6,045,316 doses of vaccines against covid-19 have been administered in Angola and 1,630,733 citizens have already completed the vaccination.

Covid-19 has caused at least 4,945,746 deaths worldwide, among more than 243.56 million infections by the new coronavirus registered since the beginning of the pandemic, according to the most recent report by the Agence France-Presse.

The respiratory disease is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, detected at the end of 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China, and currently with variants identified in several countries.
