Covid-19: Angola registers 170 new cases and six more deaths in 24 hours

Angola registered 170 new positive cases of covid-19, plus six deaths, totaling 1670, and 403 recoveries from the disease, in the last 24 hours, announced this Monday the secretary of state for Public Health, Franco Mufinda.

Luanda registered the highest number of new cases, 102, followed by the provinces of Huambo (22), Benguela (16), Zaire (six), Cabinda (five), Cuando-Cubango (five) and in the provinces of Huíla and Malanje with two cases each, aged between 3 months and 73 years.

According to the official, the six deaths in that period were registered in the provinces of Luanda (five) and Huambo (one), with Luanda and Benguela reporting the highest number of 403 recoveries from the disease.

Angola now has a total of 63,012 positive cases, 1670 deaths, with a fatality rate of 2.6 percent, 51,029 recovered from the disease and 10,313 active cases.

Franco Mufinda, who presented the epidemiological bulletin for the last 24 hours, also called on citizens to "double up" biosecurity measures against covid-19, especially the regular use of masks, regular hand washing and adherence to vaccination.
