Ferry boat will connect Cabinda to Soyo

Cabinda province will “soon” have a maritime connection with the locality of Soyo (Zaire province), announced the President of the Republic.

In his speech on the state of the Nation, this Thursday in parliament, João Lourenço underlined that “the Government has been working to guarantee different access to Cabinda, with a view to overcoming the geographical discontinuity and improving the living conditions of the populations and the economy of this part of the national territory ”, delimited by Congos and the Atlantic Ocean.

"A 'ferry boat roll on roll off' will soon be put into operation, which will connect the cities of Soyo to Cabinda, which will allow daily access to that province of 240 passengers and 1200 tons of various products," said the Angolan executive. .

Currently, connections to Cabinda are guaranteed by air transport.

João Lourenço also highlighted the port of Caio project, in the same province, whose works have already been resumed and “will have a structural impact on the region's economy”.

Still in the maritime domain, he highlighted the development of the integrated project of the bay of Moâmedes, which, he said, will allow the resurgence of tourism on the spot and the creation of hundreds of jobs.

The President also pointed out the reinforcement of the road transport program, with the delivery of more than 160 buses to the various provinces, including 153 to Luanda, as well as the railway transport that will be reinforced with 14 multiple diesel units (locomotives).
