Portuguese School of Luanda suspends presential classes after student infected by covid-19

The Portuguese School of Luanda announced this Saturday the suspension of the presential classes, starting this Monday, due to the parents' insecurity about the return of the students and after having heard about a student infected by the new coronavirus.

In a communiqué released through its website, the institution announces the decision to return to the non-attendance regime, starting on Monday and for all levels of education, after having resumed the face-to-face classes, in a mixed regime, in secondary education, on October 12.

The school reveals that during this first week "a high number of students did not attend classes in person", revealing "insecurity on the part of the parents", despite the adoption of all security and prevention measures.

The school admits that the evolution of the epidemiological situation, with a progressive increase in the number of cases, as well as the weakness of response in terms of medical assistance, also weighed on this decision.

"In addition to these circumstances, there was the knowledge of a positive case of covid-19 that occurred with a student at the school, reinforcing the arguments and fears already mentioned," adds the educational establishment, pointing out that the measure had the agreement of the parents' association.
