Luanda suspends All Souls' Day activities and visits to cemeteries

The Provincial Government of Luanda (GPL) ordered the suspension of activities related to the Day of the Dead, on 2 November, including pilgrimages to cemeteries and mass religious activities to control the transmission of covid-19.

:

The GPL refers, in a statement, to "the enormous concern about the need to retain and control the transmission of covid-19" and to preserve the lives of people who habitually travel to cemeteries to honor their loved ones who have died.

The suspension of activities on this day is due to the fact that the city of Luanda, the epicenter of the covid-19 in Angola, registered a great movement and influx of people in these places on the 2nd of November.

"In this way, we will be avoiding the risk of spreading and contributing to a reduction in the number of infected with covid-19", stresses the GPL, advising families to stay at home and comply with biosafety rules and guidelines from health authorities .

Angola counts a total of 9871 infected, with 3647 recovered, 271 deaths and 5356 active patients, including 14 in critical condition, 31 severe, 135 moderate and 417 mild.
