The information was confirmed to the Portuguese newspaper Observador by a source linked to the two generals. However, the same source did not reveal which suspicions led the OPG to attribute the condition of defendants to the former chiefs of the Casa Militar and Casa de Segurança of José Eduardo dos Santos.

In February, the two generals, in statements to Expresso, denied being involved with the Chinese fund. At the time, General Kopelipa - who, as a minister of state, could have asked for immunity but chose not to - assured that he had "no social participation either in the CIF or in any other Chinese company.

The general also said that the Office of National Reconstruction gave the land to the consortium to build a commercial and business area.

The CIF process investigates the activities of the fund with the aim of fighting corruption, the great motto of João Lourenço's campaign and governance.

In this sense, in addition to the company's two giant towers, more than a thousand unfinished buildings were also seized in Zango Zero and the centrality of Kilamba Kiaxi.
