In addition to Filipe Zau, the ceremony was also attended by national directors of several ministries, the governor of Lunda Norte, Filomena Miza, politicians and many other individuals who paid tribute to the founder of the nation.
According to a note from the Ministry of Territorial Administration, to which VerAngola had access, the central act of the celebrations of the Day of the Founder of the Nation and National Hero is taking place in Dundo and is presided over by Filipe Zau, representing the President of the Republic, João Lourenço.
This year, the celebrations are under the motto "17 September with Neto's Ideas, Let's Build a Strong and Dynamic Economy" and aim to celebrate Agostino Neto's 102nd birthday, "with the aim of praising the figure of the first President of Angola and paying homage to his contribution to the freedom of Angola and Africa, as well as his efforts to achieve peace throughout the national territory".
According to Angop, the Minister of Culture is in Dundo since this Monday and, in addition to presiding over the main event, his agenda also includes the inauguration of a school with seven classrooms in Chitato, as well as visits to the Dundo Regional Museum and the book and health fairs.
In Luanda, according to a statement from the Angolan National Police, to which VerAngola had access, the authority participated in the flag-raising ceremony.
"Members of the Superior Council of the Angolan National Police will participate, this Tuesday morning, in the flag-raising ceremony, which will take place at the National Museum of Military History, in Luanda, to celebrate the 102nd birthday of Doctor António Agostinho Neto", an event that will be celebrated this Tuesday throughout the country, the statement states.
The police also stated that the tribute will continue with the laying of wreaths at the Monument to the Unknown Soldier, while the acts of homage to the founder of the Nation will continue at the António Agostinho Neto Memorial in Luanda.
Other provinces in the country are also not letting this date go unnoticed. This is the case of Lunda Sul and Huambo, whose respective governors paid tribute to Agostinho Neto.
According to a note from the Government of Lunda Sul, to which VerAngola had access, the provincial governor, Daniel Félix Neto, accompanied by "members of his consulate, civil and military entities, police officers and the general public", laid flowers next to the bust of the honoree, in the Civic Garden.
The government of Huambo, in an act presided over by the provincial governor, Pereira Alfredo, also laid a wreath at Largo Dr. António Agostinho Neto.
