The Luanda provincial government (GPL), in a statement to which VerAngola had access, reports that Luís Nunes distinguished, on Friday morning, "the young people who led an act of bravery in the recent road accident that occurred on National Road 230, in the municipality of Viana".

At the ceremony, which took place at the GPL headquarters, the young people received the title of 'Municipalities of Merit'.

"Mateus, Hamilton, Leonardo, Raimundo, Jacinto, Francisco and António were received at the headquarters of the Luanda provincial government and awarded the title of 'Municipalities of Merit', in official recognition of the courage they demonstrated in rescuing passengers from a bus that fell into a drainage ditch", says the statement.

On the occasion, the provincial governor "emphasized that the gesture of the young people symbolizes the spirit of solidarity and citizenship that Luanda needs to cultivate, praising the readiness with which they risked their own lives to save others".

Luís Nunes also stressed that "attitudes like this deserve not only public applause, but also institutional recognition, so that they serve as inspiration to all the youth of Luanda."
