The meeting was expected as part of the traditional reception that the President of the United States of America offers to world leaders who travel to New York in September each year for the plenary debate of the United Nations General Assembly.
This marked yet another "family photo" - as the Angolan government calls it - between the President of Angola, João Lourenço, and Joe Biden, leader of the United States of America, accompanied by their respective wives, First Ladies Ana Dias Lourenço and Jill Biden.
The meeting between President João Lourenço and President Joe Biden, in his capacity as leader of the UN host country, marked the end of the Angolan statesman's official mission in New York City.
However, the politicians will not be apart for long, as Joe Biden will arrive in Luanda on 13 October for what will be the first official visit to Angola by a US President. The White House leader will remain on Angolan soil for three days.
