Adalberto Costa Júnior attended the meeting of the provisional steering committee of PRA-JA Servir Angola, to approve documents that complete the process to be submitted to the Constitutional Court on the 10th of this month, for its legalization.
The leader of the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA) said he believes there will be successes, "because the regime believes, this time, that leaving the legalization [of PRA-JA Servir Angola] is bad for the Patriotic Front".
The United Patriotic Front was created in 2021, a year before the last general elections in Angola, and is led by Adalberto Costa Júnior, assisted by Abel Chivukuvuku and Filomeno Vieira Lopes, from the political party Bloco Democrático.
Stating that the regime "always works in reverse logic", the president of UNITA lamented that "it is not the inspiration of law, it is not the law, that commands the acts".
“It’s always what’s good for us and bad for them, in their logic. So, they think that the creation of the Patriotic Front will be unfeasible with the legalization [of PRA-JA],” he said.
For the leader of UNITA, it is “very complicated to justify the legalization of a series of parties with completely unknown people, who do not seem to have sufficient conditions”, denying the legalization of PRA-JA Servir Angola.
Adalberto Costa Júnior was referring to the legalization of new political parties by the Constitutional Court in recent times.
“Therefore, there is no way around it. I am convinced that yes, it is a right”, he said, praising the resilience of the members of PRA-JA Servir Angola.
In his opening speech at the meeting, Abel Chivukuvuvku stressed that in the medium term, one of the objectives is to become active participants in the United Patriotic Front (FPU).
“To maintain the United Patriotic Front, to strengthen the United Patriotic Front, if necessary we will think in terms of expansion (…), so that we are truly the hope, in 2027 [year of the next general elections in Angola]”, declared Abel Chivukuvuku.
On this issue, Adalberto Costa Júnior added that they have received many requests, from all sectors, to be part of the FPU, which is something that requires consideration and reflection.
