Abel Chivukuvuku, who was speaking at the opening of the constituent assembly of the Provisional Executive Committee of the Angolan Renaissance Party – Juntos Por Angola (PRA-JA) Servir Angola, said that at the meeting this Friday all the documents required by law will be approved to complete the process to be submitted to the court next week.
The politician, accompanied by his partners from the United Patriotic Front (FPU) platform, including the leaders of UNITA, Adalberto Costa Júnior, and of the Democratic Bloc, Filomeno Vieira Lopes, thanked the "courage, convictions and resilience" of all those who are part of the project, "because it has not been easy since 2019".
Abel Chivukuvuku stressed that "in the short term" the aim is to legalise, institutionally normalise PRA-JA Servir Angola and prepare "to transmit faith and hope" to Angolans.
Speaking to journalists, Abel Chivukuvuku expressed confidence, stressing that "this time there will be no more room for tricks".
"We will no longer allow this. The country is maturing and public institutions must provide the necessary support and be aware that the country is changing. They cannot contribute to old practices, anti-democratic practices, and we have had a series of meetings with the Court to iron out rough edges and we are sure that everything will go well", he said.
According to Abel Chivukuvuku, there is a tendency to better interpret the law, stressing that in the past, when installation committees were rejected, they could not return with the same acronym, a procedure that was illegal.
"We had to demonstrate to the court that it is illegal and we returned again with the same acronym, which is why we expect the court to fulfill its role, enforcing the law as it is", he stressed.
When asked about the recent legalisation of new political parties, Abel Chivukuvuku considered it "legitimate" for all Angolans who so wish.
According to Abel Chivukuvuku, around 10 thousand signatures were collected for the legalisation process, highlighting that "it will no longer be possible to play the tricks that have been done to doubt people's signatures in the administrations for residence cards, [because] this time there is the citizen card".
"So in the short term, it is really about legalisation and our aim is to force the Constitutional Court to respect the law, to respect the Constitution and by the end of the year we have to be legalised", he stressed.
In the medium term, the coordinator of PRA-JA Servir Angola stressed that in addition to strengthening this political project, they intend to be active participants in the United Patriotic Front (FPU).
"Maintaining the United Patriotic Front, strengthening the United Patriotic Front, if necessary we will think in terms of expansion (...) so that we can truly be the hope in 2027 [the year of the next general elections in the country]", he declared.
"It is a challenge, not only for the growth of the Patriotic Front itself, with greater content, but also to ensure that its representation is increasingly greater", he said.
On 7 December 2020, the Constitutional Court definitively rejected the legalisation of PRA-JA Servir Angola, for "not addressing shortcomings" and presenting "ambiguous allegations".
Abel Chivukuvuku left UNITA in 2012, where he had been a member since 1974 and a former leader, and, in the same year, founded the coalition Convergência Ampla de Salvação de Angola - Coligação Eleitoral (CASA-CE).
